I just read an article on CA prop 93 (the Legislative Term Limits one) that used the phrase "mirabile dictu".

  • A.T.: In the "not wonderful to relate" category, but hopefully well hidden here. I tried to find your e-mail so I didn't have to admit my stupidity in public, but couldn't, so this will have to do.

    Night before last I woke up at 2:37 a.m. with an absolutely horrific realization. And when I say "woke up" I mean I sat bolt upright in bed and shouted out loud "Joyce wrote The Dubliners, you asshole!" (Myfanwe thinks maybe I need medication.) I don't know why this stuck so firmly in my subconscious, but it did, and I couldn't go on living if you thought me a complete idiot. I am only a partial idiot. And I hope you can forgive me.

    I am, however, totally correct when it comes to Emo Phillips, if that is any consolation.
