News must be slow.

The front page article of the SF Chronicle is on fog. Why it happens, where it happens, and that there's quite a bit of it around.

Come on, people. We live in San Francisco. August fog is not newsworthy.

  • I'm not sure about that. The weather is the one thing that a newspaper can be sure that all local readers will be interested in.

The WP ran an article on the heat wave we're having here in DC. I still think that things are getting better - diplomats here used to receive hazard pay for working in a swamp with a high risk of malaria.

Now it's merely a different type of swamp. One I'm very, very fond of so far... except for Congress. I've never been especially fond of Congress, however. It's one of those things that works better on paper.

  • It is not fog. It is marine layer intrusion.

  • I believe you said at one point that you were looking for a Jerusalem Bible, a friend of mine is selling an old one on eBay for cheap, if interested drop a line to my uchicago email [it's gzt]. And, well, fog is very important.
